When to apply

If you’re a full-time student you should apply online now for 2012/13 to make sure you get your money at the start of your course.

The deadline for new full-time students is 31 May 2012. The deadline for continuing full-time students is 29 June 2012.

Part-time students can apply for 2012/13 using a paper form from early August 2012.

You can still apply for finance for 2011/12.

The latest you can apply for student finance

You can apply for student finance:

• up to nine months after the start of the academic year if you’re a full-time student
• up to six months after the start of the academic year if you’re a part-time student

Check with your university or college when your academic year starts as it’s not necessarily the first day of your course. It will either be 1 September, 1 January, 1 April or 1 July.
